ARTé: Lumiere
Abstract
ARTé: Lumière is a research based learning game with targeted learning outcomes designed to enhance art history and art appreciation understanding. The game focus on French Impressionism and the art revolution of the 19th century.
The game incorporates academic and impressionist artists and artworks. Through gameplay, students are engaged and immersed in this revolutionary era as they explore the juxtaposition of academic versus modern artworks.
Description
Three unique mini-games allow students to discover and analyze artworks, artists and terminology. Students explore 19th century Paris while completing a variety of quests that reveal artists and the creation of famous artworks. During the game players will accomplish the following learning objectives: - Assemble and organize a collection of artworks to satisfy a given set of criteria. - Relate artworks to the political, social, cultural, religious, and economic milieu of the time period. - Organize artworks using common themes and subjects. - Classify artworks by artists’ style, period style, media and techniques.Department
