Abstract
The research begins with a definition of the thermoelastic-plastic-creep continuum and the phenomena which must be predicted in order to obtain a usable theory for modelling the response of this type of medium. Next, several alternatives are considered for obtaining a complete theoretical solution, and a single method is selected for further study. Following this are two chapters detailing the proposed theory. The first chapter deals with development of the constitutive theory; the second covers the combining of the constitutive theory with the remaining field equations and outlines the casting of the resulting theory into a computational solution scheme. Following the theoretical presentation are two chapter outlining the application of the theory to a computer code and detailing verification of the theory, respectively. Finally, suggestion for improvements of the proposed method are given, followed by conclusions determined from the research.
