The effect of tangential blowing on boundary-layer profiles
Abstract
Many methods for the control of boundary layer separation are currently being used. These include the control of body shape, smoothness, suction, slots, slats, or the use of a tangential blowing air jet. Other suggested methods are the undulation or movement of body surfaces. However, the least understood of the methods is probably that of the tangential blowing air jet, even though research has indicated that the addition of mass by tangential blowing has a substantial effect on delaying flow separation over airfoils.
