Predicting Energy Usage in a Supermarket
Abstract
Very little is known about the energy using
systems in commercial and retail stores, which
consume 24.8% of the energy used by all commercial
buildings. This paper describes development of a
change-point regression model for predicting the
hourly and daily electrical use of a supermarket.
Operational improvements already identified with the
model can save the store over 4% of their electricity
cost annually. Further analysis is expected to save the
store additional energy costs.
