Cordaitean Predation Photos 2019: Unmounted Peels, Wild Cones. Plate 17B
Abstract
Cone A (picture 1) is a mature cordaitean cone and cone B (picture 2) is taphonomically degraded. A golden coprolite was identified in proximity to cone A (picture 1) and a single brown coprolite was identified in the matrix (picture 3). Plate 17B is a successive peel taken from the same coal ball as plate 17A.
Description
These images were used in the research for a master's thesis from the Texas A&M University Dept. of Geology and Geophysics (Date of submission: May 2020).Images were taken from unmounted peels of coal balls.
Cone A is a mature cone containing a golden coprolite
Cone B is a degraded cone.
A brown coprolite was identified in the matrix.
Peels were made by Anne Raymond, the advisor for this thesis.
