An archaeological survey of four proposed well pads (each one acre in size except B-3 which is 1.44 acres and C-3 which is 1.72 acres), 2549.86 meters of pipeline, and 1158.1 meters of access roads was conducted by Brazos Valley Research Associates on October 12 and 13, 1996. This project was conducted for Famcor Oil, Inc. of Houston, Texas. The project area is located in the Sam Houston National Forest, San Jacinto County, Texas. This investigation was performed using the pedestrian survey method supported by shovel testing and probing. No prehistoric sites were found, and the only historic remains in the project area is an old railroad grade which is not significant. It is recommended that construction be allowed to proceed as planned.en
