Abstract
This study investigated organizational-management goal congruence as a predictor of organizational commitment, general job satisfaction, extrinsic job satisfaction, intrinsic job satisfaction, and intention to quit. one hundred and eighty nine management and executive personnel of the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department were sampled using a non-experimental, mail survey design. The variances accounted for by organizational-management goal congruence on organizational commitment, general job satisfaction, intrinsic satisfaction, and extrinsic satisfaction ranged from 7% to 10%. Organizational-management goal congruence was not found to be meaningfully related to intention to quit. Organizational-management goal congruence was determined to be a substantial contributor to job attitudes. This research provided sample and hierarchal generalizability to previously explored goal congruence relationships, illuminated specific impacts of goal congruence on components of job satisfaction, and identified some of the organizational dynamics within the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department.
