The work which follows contributes several methods for solving problems involving fractionating equipment. Single distillation and absorber columns are compared, and two algorithms for the solution of systems of fractionating columns are presented. A bisectioning method is developed for distillation columns as well as a procedure for coupled heat exchange between columns. This work also includes a predictive method which is suitable for feedforward control of complex distillation columns and systems.en
