dc.description.abstract | This study was designed to evaluate the effectiveness of Texas's relocation assistance programs in reducing the adverse economic effects of freeway displacement on urban residents. Such an evaluation necessitated a study of the monetary losses experienced by relocatees due to relocation and a comparison of these losses with the payments made under the relocation programs. The losses studied were as follows: (1) costs of paying for another home, (2) losses due to home financing, (3) moving costs, (4) costs of seeking another home, (5) higher operating costs, (6) rental income losses, (7) reduced employment income, and (8) miscellaneous expenses directly connected with displacement. The first three losses were compensable under the relocation programs, but the amount reimbursed was limited by law or certain conditions required by law. ... | en |
