dc.description.abstract | The production of extracellular endopeptidase by Aeromonas proteolytica, Merkel et al., was found to be influenced by a number of nutritional factors. There was an inverse relationship between endopeptidase synthesis and grow thin media containing increasing quantities of asparagine. This effect was heightened by the addition of glycerol as a supplemental carbon source. Glucose also had a slight repressive effect. The addition of small quantities of complex proteins acted to derepress endopeptidase synthesis whether the medium consisted of acid hydrolyzed casein or asparagine. The data suggest that endopeptidase synthesis is repressed by several amino acids; additive catabolite repression occurs and derepression results from unknown peptides or proteins. ... | en |
