Nueces River Recreation and Ecological Restoration Project
Abstract
Nueces River Park site is located in Real County on a County property of 4.9 acres, next to the Nueces River. The community partners envision a safer and beautiful park to be developed that can serve multiple ecological and recreational purposes. The goals are: (1) to restore the riparian habitats of the Nueces River, (2) to provide recreational access to the river away from the bridge, (3) and to develop the land to divert parking off River Road. These improvements will secure a safer, greener, and cleaner environment for the community.
Description
This project aims to restore the Nueces River's riparian habitats, provide recreational access to the river away from the bridge, and develop the land to divert parking off River Road. These improvements will secure a safer, greener, and cleaner environment for the community. The project is sponsored by the HEB Foundation and identified through a community engagement process, and it focuses on recreation space development and riparian restoration. In partnership with Keep it Real-ly Beautiful (KIRB), the site is identified by Real County Visionaries (RCV) as having great potential to become a unique Real County community space.Department
