Abstract
Several stages are involved in the creation of an graphics. effective, three-dimensional character animation. Before starting any work at the computer, the animator should consider what his characters will look like and how they will move, as well as what personalities they will have. He should also have an understanding of the twelve principles of Animation. After creating a storyboard for the animation, he should consider how the characters are best modeled and animated based upon their needs. Finally, after creating and revising the lighting, texturing, and Animation, the animator needs to render his anal lames and composite them together as necessary. The thesis elaborates these stages, resents a concise set of guidelines for effective character animation, and provides two case studies, The Bug and The Wardrobe, to illustrate creation of three-dimensional character animations.
