The news industry is undergoing changes in the digital age. News has already been presented online by traditional and Web-based news organizations. This study examines how traditional and Web-based news organizations differ in agenda setting and frames of science and technology news by analyzing science and technology news from the New York Times, a representative of traditional news organizations, and MSNBC, a representative of Web-based news organizations, for the period of December 2001 through February 2002. By comparing the two news organizations' news agenda and news frames, this study draws conclusions on the social role of the two news organizations in covering science and technology news.en
