As computer technology increases and more students become interested in Network Engineering, virtual laboratories will become more popular to use as educational tools for students. Virtual laboratories provide an efficient and cost effective way to share expensive and delicate resources among peers. However, current virtual laboratories only provide simulations of network exercises taking away some of the learning experience achieved through hands-on learning activities. Using the proposed filter mechanism would enable students to achieve a more realistic experience and would allow students to directly communicate with and configure the laboratory devices themselves, instead of just simulating predefined exercises.en
