dc.description.abstractThe highway system is reaching the end of its design life and requires rehabilitation due to excessive wear and age. Concrete pavement rehabilitation and reconstruction are two of the methods used to extend the service life of roadways. This study identified factors and practices that contributed to the success of highway concrete rehabilitation and reconstruction projects. The research was conducted on four specific topics related to highway projects: constructibility, contracting, scheduling and planning, and construction methods and practices. A comprehensive literature search was conducted to identify key elements that affect the success of highway rehabilitation projects on the above-mentioned areas. The search assisted in the preparation of an interview tool that included a questionnaire designed to gather information related to reconstruction projects aiming to identify and evaluate key success factors. Two highway reconstruction projects were selected for study. The evaluation of the projects was conducted through a series of personal interviews with personnel from the key parties involved in the projects, as well as visits to the construction sites to video and analyze construction operations. The information gathered was evaluated through descriptive analysis.en
