Industry and academia require accurate Pressure - Volume - Temperature (P-V-T) relationship data for various mixtures. Equation of state (an equation which models P-V-T relationships) development requires such data. A new equation of state is under development by National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) and more P-V-T data are necessary for its completion. Texas A&M has supplied such data in the past; however, the apparatus used for obtaining this data requires modernization. The new design incorporates automation and a new method for making pressure measurements. The new device consists of an isochoric (constant volume) cell, a pressure transducer, a platinum resistance thermometer, various insulation systems, and an automated control system. The new design can operate at temperatures ranging from 200K to 600K and pressures from full vacuum to 35 MPa, and has been designed primarily for work with natural gas mixtures.en
