Abstract
In the present work 15 Mexican species from the subfamily Cardiochilinae (Hymenoptera: Braconidae), are described almost doubling the number of species previously described. The genera Hansonia and Neocardiochiles endemic to the New World are recorded for first time from Mexico. The species Toxoneuron bicolor Szdpligeti and Psilommiscus levis (Mao) new combination, are re-described. Phylogenetic relationships of the Mexican Cardiochilinae are analyzed showing that at least five genera are present in Mexico Cardiochiles, Toxoneuron, Hansonia, Neocardiochiles and Psilommiscus. New evidence is provided to support the hypothesis that members of this subfamily are more commonly found in tropical and dry habitats. Distribution patterns of the Mexican Cardiochilinae are assessed and the concept of Transition Zone provides a ground plan for establishing patterns of distribution of the members of this subfamily.
