dc.description.abstract | In this thesis, I have simulated and evaluated the performance of both a multicarrier CDMA (MC-CDMA) system employing a conventional maximum likelihood detector (MLD) and a direct sequence CDMA (DS-CDMA) system using a RAKE receiver over a six-path Rayleigh fading channel in terms of receiver over a six-path Rayleigh fading channel in terms of same channel conditions. The simulations have been carried out in MATLAB for a forward link (base to mobile). Performance curves have been obtained for different number of users for three different environments: urban, rural and hilly. For a fair comparison, the diversity of the RAKE receiver of the DS-CDMA system was kept almost identical to diversity in the MC-CDMA system. | en |
