dc.description.abstractiii Turbo coding is the latest channel coding technique. Because of the ability of turbo codes to provide very low bit error rates at low signal to noise ratios, turbo codes have a potential of being used in wireless communication applications. The main objective of this thesis is the implementation of an Iterative MAP turbo Decoder on a digital signal processor, TMS32OC40. Performance of the decoder was tested over an additive white gaussian noise channel and using a binary phase shift keying signalling scheme. In this thesis our Iterative MAP decoding algorithm and its implementation are discussed and simulation results for different encoders are presented.en
