Abstract
The goal of this research project is to explicate the rhetorical dynamics of Hillary Rodham Clinton's addresses to the United Nations' Fourth World Conference on Women by utilizing the Rhetoric of Inherent Value as a touchstone for analysis. The study employs the rhetorical strategies of "mystery", "power-with", and "ritual" to expose Rodham Clinton's underlying themes of interconnection and immanent value in her call for women's rights protections. The criticism focuses on Rodham Clinton's ability to embrace both unity and diversity, promoting empowered action on the part of listeners through her rhetorical style. This critique reveals a non-confrontational approach to addressing social problems that allows its users (including Rodham Clinton) to mitigate controversy surrounding either their topic or themselves as speakers.
