A device was built that provides smooth non-linear restoring forces and moments to the pitch and plunge of a wing in a wind tunnel. The device uses an innovative combination of cams and linear extension springs to produce the restoring forces which can be tailored independently for each degree-of-freedom. Circular cam shapes were seen to produce linear responses while other shapes produce non-linear restoring forces. The design of a program to predict a cam shape for a desired response was not entirely successful. The device exhibited significant damping, especially in plunge, and the reduction of this damping should be a priority for future work.en
