dc.description.abstract | This study examines the psychometric properties of the Revised marital Satisfaction Inventory (MSI-R) using archival data from previous validation studies of the original instrument. Normalized T-scores were identified for each of the 11 revised scales and for the two new scales of the MSI-R. Evidence for internal consistency and temporal stability was obtained. Criterion validity was studied by identifying correlations between individual scales and external criteria provided by both couples and therapists. Correlations were replicated across split-half samples. Joint contingency tables were then created for each of the correlates to identify cutting points along individual scales at which a criterion falls significantly above or below the base-rate for that criterion. This provides evidence for the criterion validity of the MSI-R and provides data from which actuarial interpretations can be generated. | en |
