Heat transfer, neutronics, and accident analyses are presented to support an increase of the power level of the Texas A&M University Nuclear Science Center Reactor. The upgraded steady state power level is to be 1.49 MW, from the current level of 1.0 MW. Several computer codes were used to perform the safety analyses needed to support a licensing change. These codes were WIMSD4/m, DIF3D, NCTRIGA, and PARET. The limiting reactor parameters were calculated, and standard reactor accident scenarios were analyzed. The results of the analyses demonstrated that the power upgrade could be achieved without creating any significant safety hazards or restricting operation beyond the current limits. Included in this thesis is a description of the relevant reactor systems and verification of the numerical methods.en
