| dc.description.abstract | Hall Caine, once a popular writer, is now forgotten. This is the first edition of Hall Caine's play The Demon Lover. The text is based on the only known typescript of the play which is corrected in the author's own hand and which was bound for Caine's personal library at Greeba Castle. The edition is presented as a clear text with accompanying apparatus and a contextualization of the play and Caine. The demon lover motif is traced through literary history and the intertextuality of his work and other notables such as Edgar Allan Poe is discussed. | en |
