dc.description.abstract | The (d, ⁶Li) reaction has been studied for targets of ⁴⁰Ca, ³⁹K, ²⁷Al, and ²⁶Mg at an incident energy of 50 MeV. Excitation of the ground state and lowest-lying 2⁺ and 4⁺ states is observed in ³⁶Ar and ²²Ne as well as excitation of a 0⁺ state in ³⁶Ar at 5.2 MeV. It was noted that the cross section for excitation of the ³⁵Cl(3⁺/2) state is very similar to that for excitation of the ³⁶Ar(0⁺) ground state in both magnitude and shape. It was also noted that the shapes of the cross sections for excitation of the ³⁵Cl(1⁺/2) and ³⁵Cl(5⁺/2) states are much like that for excitation of the ³⁶Ar(2⁺) state and that their magnitudes sum to very nearly that of the Ar cross section and a possible interpretation presented. No such correspondence is observed between the ²²Ne and ²³Na cross sections. A zero-range DWBA analysis was attempted and the results are presented. The DWBA, as used, was shown to be inadequate to describe the reaction. | en |
