dc.description.abstract | The purpose of this study was to design and carry out a correlational study of student performance on the APL Assessment and the California Achievement Test, Form C, Level 17. The rapid growth and expansion of programs of adult education has brought about a demand for more efficient and effective methods of delivering instructional services to adult students, including testing procedures. Competency-based instructional programs are now being implemented in many adult education programs. The success of these programs will be dependent upon the identification or development of appropriate assessment devices. This study was conducted in adult education programs in Louisiana. Sixteen sites provided data on 344 adult participants. Data analysis was accomplished using the Statistical Analysis System (SAS), with the Pearson product-moment as the principal statistical procedure used to correlate scores between the two tests. The F ratio was applied to determine significant differences for the demographic variables of sex, age, ethnicity, employment status, and last grade completed. | en |
