| dc.description.abstract | The objective of this research was to determine truck adjustment factors for rural highways. These factors were determined by finding passenger car equivalent values for fourteen different vehicle types under varying traffic and roadway geometric conditions. This was accomplished using a mathematical model calibrated to field data collected in several states on both two-lane and four-lane highways. The data include headways, speeds and travel times by vehicle type, traffic volume condition, and roadway section type. Composite passenger car equivalent (PCE) values for a range of geometric, volume, and percent truck values are presented and compared to values from other research.
