This study was designed to determine if the reciprocal recurrent selection program at the Texas Agricultural Experiment Station at Texas A&M University has improved the probability of selecting a higher frequency of selections with superior combining ability from the advanced population. Seed sources for this study were from the original population of Ferguson's Yellow Dent (FYD-O) and the fourth cycle of Ferguson's Yellow Dent (FYD-4). Selections were made in both populations and were selfpollinated and crossed to three testers. The testers used were Tx303, Tx303 x Tx325 and the original population of Yellow Surcropper (YS-0). The testcrosses were planted to an incomplete randomized block design and replicated three times. Checks were inserted randomly within each replication. ...en
