| dc.description.abstract | Career development theory suggests dimensions related to career maturity that are common to all individuals. Among these are: orientation to the world of work, independence in the decision-making process, involvement in the choice process, preference for specific choice factors, conception of the career choice process, awareness of aptitudes and abilities, and rational planning for the future. These dimensions are evident in varying degrees within the personality structure of adolescents. This study has presented a theoretical rationale and laboratory data in support of counseling specifically directed toward the facilitation of these developmental dimensions. Secondary objectives were to investigate the moderation effects of the sex of counselors and the sex of subjects. Subjects for the study were tenth grade students enrolled in a suburban high school adjacent to a major metropolitan area.
