Abstract
During the past half century, researchers have been diligently studying the subject of human motivation. In particular, many studies have been conducted in the industrial environment to determine the factors which motivate workers and cause job satisfaction and dissatisfaction. One concept which was conceived as a result of studies of industrial workers was the motivation-hygiene theory of Herzberg. The main tenet of the theory is that the factors which motivate people toward their jobs are different from those which dissatisfy them. The purpose of this dissertation was to apply Herzberg's theory to a group of college students participating in the Air Force Reserve Officers' Training Corps (AFROTC) in a military school environment. ...
