Abstract
Purpose The purpose of this study was to develop guidelines for reconstructing the prevocational program and to determine the competencies needed for the prevocational teachers at the preparatory level in Jordan. In order to achieve this purpose the following specific objectives were developed as guidelines for conducting the research: 1. To determine the perceptions among the vocational educators in the Ministry of Education (central office), the local vocational supervisors, and prevocational teachers at the preparatory level in regard to the role of prevocational education at the preparatory level. 2. To determine the perceptions among the vocational educators in the Ministry of Education (central office), local vocational supervisors, and prevocational teachers at the preparatory level, and the competencies need by them in achieving the national goal for prevocational education in Jordan. 3. To determine the perceptions among the three subgroups (agricultural, industrial and commercial) regarding (a) the role of prevocational education at the preparatory level and (b) the competencies needed by the prospective prevocational teachers in achieving the national goal for prevocational education in Jordan. 4. To develop guidelines for making adjustments in the program and the education of teachers for the prevocational program at the preparatory level by use of the findings of this study and information obtained from reviewing the literature in the United States and abroad. ...
