This investigation is concerned with lime and cement stabilization of soils with widely varying properties. An accelerated curing procedure is developed for lime-stabilized soils which shortens considerably the normal laboratory testing program for design of soil-lime mixtures. An empirical formula is developed to rapidly determine a strength-curing time relationship for a lime-stabilized soil. However, this approach warrants continued investigation for its validation. Faster means of predicting durability of soil-lime mixtures is possible based on a correlation between immersed strength and durability. Various methods of establishing the optimum lime content are compared. The detrimental effect of soil sulfates on the strength of lime-stabilized soils is investigated, and a maximum sulfate content that is not harmful for lime stabilization of soil, is determined. It was not possible to determine a maximum allowable organic content in a soil that would not interfere with lime stabilization of the soil. ...en
