Abstract
The purpose of this investigation was to determine the relationship that exists, subsequent to the passage of the Vocational Education Act of 1963, between production in agriculture and instruction in related subject-matter in the preparation of teachers of vocational agriculture in the United States. The major land-grant universities of the 50 states were selected as the subject institutions. Two did not have complete preparatory programs for teachers of vocational agriculture, so the study involved the other U8 major land-grant institutions. Minimum requirements in selected subject areas were secured from these institutions by a combination of sources including the latest available undergraduate catalogs, information forms mailed to pertinent institutions, and personal correspondence. The selected subject areas of instruction were: livestock, dairy, poultry, all animal sciences, field crops, horticulture, all plant and soil sciences, agricultural economics, farm mechanics, and total semester hours required in agriculture. ...
