dc.description.abstract | Purpose of the Study [line break] The study traced the historical development of the Hinson-Hazlewood College Student Loan Program from its inception to its status as of August 1, 1970; documented the delinquency rate of each participating institution as of August 1, 1970; and analyzed items of information requested on the loan application. The purpose of the study was to compare items of information requested on the Hinson-Hazlewood College Student Loan application of delinquent borrowers as of August 1, 1970, with information from borrowers who were current in their loan repayment as of August 1, 1970, to determine if there was any statistical correlation between the items of information reported on the application and the delinquency status that would be useful in predicting whether a loan would be repaid. [line break] Procedure [line break] The subjects who were selected for the study made their initial Texas Opportunity Plan Loan during the 1966-67 school year, were single when their initial loan was made, were attending a four-year degree granting institution at the time of the initial loan, and were either current in the repayment of their loan or six or more monthly payments delinquent as of August 1, 1970. Of the 408 accounts analyzed in the study, 152 accounts were current in their loan payment as of August 1, 1970, while the other 256 accounts were six or more monthly payments delinquent as of August 1, 1970. ... | en |
