dc.description.abstract | This study was designed to determine if age affects performance in post-secondary technical education. Eight hundred five students at Texas State Technical Institute, Waco, Texas, comprised the sample. Subjects were selected from students whose G subtest scores of the General Aptitude Test Battery fell within one-half standard deviation from the means for that subtest. First and fourth quartiles by age were determined, and these were compared for performance using the cumulative grade point ratios of graduates of the technology programs and the skill development programs separately. Dropouts from these programs were studied to determine whether the cumulative grade point ratios were significantly different for these students at the time of exit. The statistical method utilized was the difference of the means of the grade point ratios subjected to the t test. Significance was tested to the .05 level. | en |
