Abstract
Purpose of Study: The purpose of this study was to determine whether there was any correlation between the test scores and selected characteristics used in selection of trainees for Manpower training and their success in gaining employment in training related occupations and an increase in salary. Scope and Method of Study: Eight training classes for 244 unemployed or under-employed persons were held at James Connally Technical Institute under the Manpower Development Training Act of 1962 as amended in 1963 and in 1965. The trainees were divided into six different groups according to their success in gaining employment after the training. The groupings were: those who (1) completed the training and are now employed in a training related occupation; (2) completed the training and are now employed but not in training related occupations; (3) completed the training, but are now unemployed; (4) dropped out and are not employed in a training related occupation; (5) dropped out and are now employed, but not in training related occupations; and (6) dropped out and are unemployed. ...
