A Research of Planning Information and Analysis for Breckenridge, Texas
Abstract
In May of ‘82 I plan to receive a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Design. There are several directions which I may take from that point onward as to the choice of a career. One available option which appeals very much to me is in the area of Urban and Regional Planning. At present my knowledge of this subject is too limited for me to make a decision as to whether or not I would enjoy this field, and so I would like to take advantage of the Undergraduate Fellows Program as a means to research and fully understand Urban and Regional Planning. I propose to do this by gathering necessary planning information on Breckenridge, Texas, organizing and compiling this information in book form, and using this information to predict the trends of the city and to make suggestions which could give the city a better future. I have chosen to study Breckenridge, Texas because am familiar with the town, its relatively small size (population 8,000) will permit me to study it without being overpowered with information while at the same time the factors attributing to its development are varied (agriculture, oil production, manufacturing).
