Computer Modeling of the Electrical Activity of the Heart
Abstract
This paper outlines the various models and methods used in solving the forward and inverse problems in electrocardioagraphy. Specifically, the development and implementation of a computer model which determines the body surface voltage distribution from a given epicardial voltage distribution are discussed. For this model, the body and the heart are represented by concentric spheres; Laplace's equation in spherical coordinates is solved using a finite difference approximation. This solution yields the voltage distribution on the body sphere.
