Abstract
Rapidly rising power costs have prompted industrial motor users to consider specifying motors having efficiencies higher than the norm. Blanket specifications calling out high efficiency units for all applications can result in extended deliveries, higher costs and marginal improvements in overall plant efficiency. This paper offers some general guidelines that can be used to help the ultimate user put energy efficient drives on those applications where the greatest results can be achieved.
