Cogeneration in Texas
Abstract
As a result of suggestions made at the 1979 Public Utility Commission of Texas (PUCT) sponsored cogeneration conference, the Commission convened the 1980 Cogeneration Task Force. The Task Force was charged by a Commission Resolution with assisting in the development of the state implementation plan to promote cogeneration. The response from industries and utilities to the PUCT request for assistance was very positive. All major electric utilities and over 20 major industrial companies participated in deliberations, lasting six months, over Sections 201 and 210 of the Public Utility Regulatory Policies Act.
The Task Force Report was submitted to the Commission in October, 1980. Public hearings were held in January, and the Staff has begun its review of the Task Force recommendations. The Staff will propose Substantive Rules and a hearing will be held on the Staff proposals. An order implementing the final rules will then be issued.
The results of the hearings and subsequent action will be discussed by Mr. Halicki.
