Abstract
Basic concepts of heat recovery are defined as they apply to the industrial community. Methods for locating, ranking, and developing heat recovery opportunities are presented and explained. The needs for useful heat 'sinks' are emphasized as equal in importance to recoverable heat sources. The applications of several specific heat recovery devices and systems are discussed. These include liquid run-around systems, vapor recompression, various heat exchanger designs, and multiple energy use systems.
