Abstract
Energy has played a significant role in the history of this nation. Until the 1970s, little thought was given to energy by consumers. Changes occurring during the last decade signaled several trends in future energy sources and costs.
If we are to continue our leadership in the political and economical world, we must use the experience of the 1970s to analyze, plan, and carefully select our energy alternatives. Projections of energy sources and costs in the next ten years will provide a basis of discussion of consumer options associated with load and energy management, and energy substitution opportunities. A teamwork approach among consumers, energy suppliers, architects, engineers, equipment manufacturers, and regulatory agencies should provide the greatest opportunity for success.
