dc.description.abstract | This paper will deal with steam trap surveys and preventive maintenance programs and the energy savings that may be realized from such efforts. Trap survey organization, flexibility, simplicity, and mechanics will be reviewed, including the economic justification for the survey program. Defective steam traps and their energy characteristics will also be discussed. An on-going preventive maintenance program can be initiated from the information derived from the survey. Sustained energy efficiency of the plant's steam system is the maintenance program's primary goal. The scope and aggressiveness of such a program will be presented. | en |
