Abstract
There are numerous industries that can incorporate heat pumps into their operations to save energy costs and payoff the investment in well under two years. Many of these industries can cut energy costs associated with evaporation by over 75%! This paper discusses ways to use heat pumps in new process and retrofit designs, including methods to overcome problems in heat exchange fouling and high lift applications. Examples of actual designs and a simple approximation of installed heat pump cost are presented.
