dc.description.abstract | The Department of Energy’s Office of Industrial Programs supports research and development leading to improved energy efficiency and greater overall productivity in the industrial sector. Its basic strategy is a program of cost-shared R&D, incorporating projects with such risk that the private sector will not pursue them independently. This paper describes the Office’s major activities, operating premises and research areas. Policy considerations affecting the program’s content are identified and criteria applied in project selection are discussed. Achievement of constructive industry involvement in program development and review is viewed as vital to success. This goal, and the means by which it is being pursued, are emphasized. | en |
