Abstract
Higher pump efficiency, a most worthy
objective, is being pursued with increasing
vigour as energy costs rise. There are signs,
however, that the pursuit occasionally loses
its perspective. To try to eliminate these
lapses, the paper restates the objective,
looks at the importance of system design,
then discusses pump efficiency and its rational
evaluation.
