Abstract
The possible uses of high temperature superconductors in
electronics applications are reviewed. There are applications for
which the high temperature operation of these novel materials is
a significant advantage; one example is the use of SQUID magnetometers
for geophysical exploration. On the other hand there
are applications such as their use in computers for which these
materials offer only marginal improvements if they are applied
as simple replacements for other materials. We advocate the investigation
of novel applications of these materials as the means
to find their most important use in electronics.
