The performance of a pilot scale advanced PSA oxygen generation system and a low NOx oxygen burner was evaluated for industrial furnace applications. The PSA system employs a two-bed vacuum cycle design with a capacity of 1.3 TPD at 90% O2 purity. The oxygen generated from the PSA system was directly fed to a Linde "A" Burner with a nominal capacity of 1 MMBTU/hr. The PSA system has shown an excellent reliability, a low power consumption, and good turndown characteristics. The burner produced a uniform temperature profile in a test furnace operated between 2000°F and 2700°F. NOx emissions as low as 0.05 lb/MMBTU were measured at furnace temperatures up to 2780°F.en
