The South Dakota State University (SDSU) Industrial Energy Optimization Program (IEOP) and Energy Analysis and Diagnostic Center (EADC) program perform energy audits for industrial companies in the Upper Midwest region of the United States. Each audited company has or will receive a written report which includes recommendations based on data collected through a pre-audit questionnaire and a site visit to the facility. The fourteen companies represented in this study were interviewed nine to twelve months after their audit to obtain data for an implementation study. The study examines the implementation rates of the given recommendations, analyzes why some recommendations were not implemented, and determines how much of the report's predicted energy and cost savings were realized by the company. This study is a follow-up of the presentation "Energy Consumption Characteristics of Light Manufacturing Facilities in the Northern Plains" which was given at the 1994 IETC. It considered ten audits to determine which types of recommendations would most likely be implemented. The same ten audits are included in this study.en
