dc.description.abstract | Many of the Department of Defense (DoD) industrial operations are being consolidated and some facilities laid away. While this process is underway, DoD has attempted to renovate the old plants with state-of-the-art technologies at the remaining active production bases. This change-over presents an excellent opportunity for a plan to simultaneously meet the energy conservation and environmental compliance requirements. This work is sponsored by the Strategic Environmental Research and Development Program (SERDP) that addresses the energy and environmental issues at the same time, taking into account that how energy is used may greatly affect the environment. This paper discusses the development of analysis tools which could help DoD managers make informed decisions on whether to change or modify processes or to adopt new technology to achieve the energy and environmental goals. In addition to energy and environmental engineering, group dynamics and human potential research techniques are included in the tool development package. | en |
